Our Story

Kelly Thomas, our founder, was a pioneer in tax-focused financial planning.

Known for sharing easy-to-understand advice with clients, Kelly Thomas was known for helping clients manage their financial life so they could plan for long-term financial success. Through this philosophy, he built a successful business in Metrowest serving individuals and families. Kelly did not know it at the time, but in founding Thomas Financial Associates, he would one day be recognized as a pioneer in the financial planning profession as we know it today.

In 2008, in the midst of the Financial Crisis, Kelly’s son, Brennan, joined the firm. He took Brennan under his wing and taught him timeless lessons and skills so that he could deliver quality financial planning and investment advice. Kelly knew that to be successful as a financial planner, Brennan would need to know as much as he could about a client’s entire financial life before even thinking of offering recommendations. Brennan learned to listen and speak with compassion. Through his father’s mentorship, Brennan learned that money is an emotional, loaded topic and that it was a financial planner’s job to be a rational, clear voice in times of uncertainty.

Over time Brennan took over day-to-day operations of the firm giving Kelly the confidence that Thomas Financial’s legacy would be in good hands. Kelly’s goal was always to follow the same path that he advised his clients to follow, plan well and enjoy their passions. In 2022, he passed the baton to Brennan who is carrying on the traditions, culture, and beliefs upon which Kelly built his successful business.

Now, over 25 years from the firm’s inception, Thomas Financial Associates has become regarded as one of the best local financial services firms.
